I’ve always been a fan of architecture, especially Frank Lloyd Wright. So, I decided to create a website honoring the visionary who gave us Prairie Style, Usonian homes, and Organic Architecture.
When I mentioned the idea to a friend, she sent me several articles about Wright himself.
They weren’t exactly flattering.
In fact, I thought she’d made a mistake and accidentally sent me articles about his son.
I steadfastly refused to believe my architectural idol was anything less than the larger-than-life figure I’d always imagined him to be.
But then I started digging.
And, lo and behold…
She was right.
After getting over my initial surprise, I found myself even more intrigued. Wright was brilliant, visionary, opinionated, arrogant, inspiring, scandalous, and completely unapologetic about living life on his own terms.
He was a genius who strode his own path and seemed to care very little what anyone thought about him. I realized we had that in common.
Well… except for the genius part.
Then, as I dug a little deeper, I stumbled across something I never expected.
Frank Lloyd Wright had a deeply metaphysical side.
The more I read about his beliefs, the more I understood why his architecture had always spoken to me. Like me, he believed there was more to this world than what we can see with our eyes. His buildings weren’t simply designed to sit on the land—they were meant to become part of it. Nature, light, space, harmony…everything was connected.
Suddenly, the architecture I loved made even more sense.
Finding out that we shared that metaphysical way of looking at the world was every bit as surprising as discovering he wasn’t the saint I’d made him out to be. It didn’t make me admire him because we thought alike. It simply helped me understand why his work had always resonated so deeply with me.
So this website is my attempt to explore and share the life, work, triumphs, contradictions, philosophy, and occasional train wrecks of a man I continue to hold in very high esteem.
Not because he was perfect…far from it.
But because he was unapologetically, brilliantly, and uniquely Frank Lloyd Wright.
Warts and all.
